Shivani Rattan is a young conductor and mezzo-soprano from London who graduated from Royal Holloway in 2019. Whilst at university Shivani performed and toured with The Chapel Choir and was the director of The Founder’s Choir in her final year.
Shivani trained as a choral conductor with Sing for Pleasure and passed an LRSM in choral direction last year. She has just started a new job with Brent Music Service and is an Assistant Conductor for The National Children’s Choir of Great Britain.
As a young BAME musician Shivani is very passionate about issues of diversity and even wrote a dissertation titled ‘Exploring a lack of diversity in the classical music industry focusing on BAME participation and access’. She is looking forward to discussing this further in Sunday’s panel session.
